Ruffino Tenuta Greppone Mazzi Brunello di Montalcino 2017

Tuscany, ItalyGreppi, meaning uneven, steep slopes, refers to the Greppone Mazzi vineyards and its 50 year old vines that sit 250 to 450 meters above sea level. Sangiovese Grosso, the grape of Brunello, reigns supreme here. The wine opens with an earthy undercurrent that fits its dry attack and leathery notes. It is more old style than new, but it has its charm. The fruit is red along the cherry and plum spectrum with some savoury crushed herbs and more leather for complexity. At seven years it is just beginning to spread its wings. Drink or hold through 2037.Tasted: 02 November 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
