Phantom Creek Estates Riesling 2022
Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe red wines at Phantom Creek continue to get most of the press, but the white wines under the direction of noted Alsace winemaker Olivier Humbrech are no less impressive. In '22, the Humbrecht takes a slight step back from the powerful 2020 style, pitching more elegance helped by a vintage that started late and wet, whose subsequent warm days and cold nights yielded a balance of fruit and acidity. The nose is bright with lovely ripe red fruit and florals, followed by limes, green and red apple, and a long, fresh mineral finish. It is wild fermented and matured for five months in 60% Austrian oak, 30% stainless steel and 10% French oak.
