Phantom Creek Estates Cabernet Franc 2021
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe South Okanagan Phantom Creek Cab Franc comes off estate blocks on both sides of the valley. The fresher style comes from Kobau Vineyard on the Golden Mile bench, while the warm, generous style is grown on the Black Sage Bench closer to the home base. It was a super hot year, causing many issues in the vineyard and, eventually, in the wineries. Balance was the most difficult thing to achieve, and you see it in this red. Tarry brambly fruit with dry sagebrush, strong earthy notes, and a touch of reduction suggest you open this early and decant for 45 minutes.
