Blue Mountain Pinot Noir Single Vineyard Block 9 Wild Terrain 2022
Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaWild Terrain is the untamed sibling of the trio of single block wines launched in 2017 at Blue Mountain. Wild Terrain covers the pinot blocks growing in the most extreme and varied topography, from steep slopes exposed to the wind and facing southwest, to sun-drenched, flatter plains over loamy sand. The vines are now 23 years old, and the results are impressive. Certainly among the most complex pinots made in the province, it charms with its wild flavours, delicate mouthfeel, weight, and a 13.5% sweet spot. Muted black plums and wild raspberries weave through a complex mix of iodine, minerals, earth and desert scrub. Complex and thought provoking, this will only improve in the bottle for the next half of a decade.Tasted: 25 November 2024Tasted by: Prices:

Blue Mountain Pinot Noir Single Vineyard Block 9 Wild Terrain 2022
Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis comes from varied topography, ranging from steep slopes with southwest exposure, to flat plains planted to 25 year old vines. It's easy to see where the name comes from: this has a wild character to the fruit, ranging from wild raspberry to thorny brambles, with savoury notes of flinty reduction, iodine, earth, and lavender. It's complex and compelling, with the wood firmly in the background. More tightly structured and reserved at this stage than the other single blocks, this will undoubtedly improve over the next 3-5 years. It is a distinctive, cerebral wine, almost unlike any Okanagan pinot, that deserves contemplation.Tasted: 28 September 2024Tasted by: Prices:
