Hillside Merlot Gjoa's Vineyard 2019

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaGjoa’s Vineyard is part of the Hillside Winery single vineyard collection, which was released years ago when the wines displayed outstanding varietal and Naramata characteristics. Goja’s Vineyards sits just below Hidden Valley Vineyard, across the main Naramata road close to the winery, and it appears to be happier than ever at 28 years of age. In contrast to some of the fruity styles we have tasted, this is a wine of contemplation with rich, meaty, umami notes that provide a tight, refreshing profile of perfectly ripe Naramata cherries with a persistent spicy note in the background. At 6 years of age this still has a tug of tannin that should subside through 2027-2028, as it reaches the decade mark.Tasted: 04 July 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
