Yalumba The Y Series Viognier 2022

South Australia, AustraliaEntry level wine has always played an essential part in assessing a winery’s quality. At Yalumba, the Y Series consists of 11 wines, and one of the best is the Viognier. I have been following the Yalumba viognier experiment since the late 1980s when only a handful of French versions were produced globally. With the most extensive planting of viognier on the planet, Yalumba winemaker Louisa Rose has championed the grape to new heights. In the case of the Y Series, she blends fruit from across Southern Australia. There is no giant tank. Each parcel is natively fermented, bringing the necessary prerequisite aromas and flavours to the bottle: white flower undertones and a fresh, rich mid-palate of apricot, pears and honeysuckle. It's a quality introduction to the grape, and a bargain.Tasted: 14 May 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
