Rodney Strong Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander's Crown Single Vineyard 2019
Alexander Valley, Sonoma County, California, United StatesAlexander’s Crown Cabernet Sauvignon is grown inside the 22 mile long Alexander Valley AVA, ranging in elevation from 250 to 350 feet. The site was established in 1971 and recognized as the first site in the valley to produce a single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. Alexander’s Crown vineyard sits on a hill just south of Jimtown. It is a cold site with average daily temperatures of 59 degrees Fahrenheit, and in 2019, with all the reservoirs full and minor heat spikes, it was an excellent growing year. The cabernets are showing some fleshy notes, but this wine has the refinement of 2018. This wine has a touch more flesh in 2019, giving it a nod over 2018. As mentioned before, the replanting of the Crown vineyard has paid off, giving this wine new life with rich blackcurrant, violets, and blueberry, with streaks of chocolate and dried herbs that are singing in 2019. The quality of the tannins is particularly attractive, dense, sweet, and long, suggesting you can age this wine through 2030 with no problem. An opulent mountain wine with holy grail power and elegance.Tasted: 10 May 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $105.99 | 750ml | BC Liquor Stores |
