Rodney Strong Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander's Crown Single Vineyard 2012

Alexander Valley, Sonoma County, California, United StatesThe Alexander Valley AVA is 22 miles long, ranging in elevation from 150 to 1,500 feet above sea level, and is home to all three RS single vineyard cabs the best blocks situated just below the ridge tops with a western facing aspect. Alexander’s Crown 63-acre vineyard, with average temperatures of 59 F yields more delicate style cabernet since its inception in 1971. Today only Block 1, the top 15 acres sitting on well drained red volcanic soil goes in the Crown. The 2012 is super ripe with soft round spicy plum fruit streaked with dark cherry and milk chocolate. There is a floral aspect on the nose but at this point the mocha dominates. This should age through 2020 easily. Serve with grilled meats.Tasted: 25 January 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
