Hillside Founder's Block Gamay 2020

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFounder's Block refers to Hillside's first planting, this 1984 block of gamay. It was cold soaked for 2 weeks over 1 month of skin contact and ferment, prior to pressing into French oak (1/3 new) where it remained for 8 months. Plum, sapid branch, forest bark is seasoned with espresso and barrel spice. Acidity is tart, and tannins are finely gritty, taking this through a warming, bitter cherry finish. Feeling a bit hot at near 14%, this 2020 should be drunk sooner than later.Tasted: 07 May 2024Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
