Blue Mountain Estate Cuvée Gamay Noir 2023

Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaBC gamay is woefully under-appreciated, although in many ways, in the south Okanagan and certainly at Blue Mountain, it is reminiscent of some of the top Beaujolais Crus. With a blend of vines from 12 to 30 years old and pretty much hands-off winemaking, the destemmed fruit is native fermented and aged in old neutral French barrels in various sizes. The result is a resilient, earthy, red-fruited wine with desert sagebrush savoury notes and fine acidity. It opens slightly reductive, so get it in a decanter for 30 minutes before serving. and a dusting of sea salt at the finish. It is a save-or-hold wine. Either way, it is a solid effort and reasonably priced for the quality.Tasted: 06 March 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
