Barberani Polvento 2019

Umbria, ItalyBarberani is one of Umbria’s most respected producers, famous for its clean, pure wines. The vineyards lie on hills overlooking Lake Corbara. Of the estate’s 80-odd hectares, 50 are dedicated to vineyards and olive groves. Advised by consultant oenologist Maurizio Castelli, the estate uses no chemical herbicides or pesticides in its vineyards. Fragrant and plush black plums, thorny wild blackberries, dark cherries, and darker chocolate course through the medium palate, brightened by Sangiovese's bright acidity, and framed with sticky, plumped tannins and finishing with dried bay leaves. A toothsome, darker-shaded sangio, primed for hearty red-sauced ragu.Tasted: 05 March 2024Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
