Russian River, Sonoma County, California, United StatesA new winemaker in town is turning out the Kirkland RRV Pinot, but it seems mostly unaffected in any major way. Russion River pinot can be over the top in flavour and alcohol, but this simplistic version paints a gentler picture, with pleasing round, red pinot fruit that is not overly spicy or hot. It finishes shorter than I might like, but then its price makes that eminently forgivable, and the vanilla and cola are held to a minimum, which is again another plus.
