Torres Celeste Crianza Montreal Edition 2020

Ribera del Duero, Castilla-Leon, SpainThis tempranillo, from 40+ year old vines and high altitude vineyards in Ribera del Duero, takes its name from the celestial heavens, seemingly within reach from the 895m high vineyard. From this site, far away from lights and habituation, Miguel Torres Jr has said, “You can almost touch the stars.” After a stainless ferment, this tempranillo was transferred to French and American oak (10-15% new) for one year. Ripe and fleshy blackberry, black plum, and cassis flood this juicy, full-bodied red, scented with scrubby desert herbs and licked with wild mint. Tannins are dense and subtly sticky but well absorbed in the 14% density here, finishing with a dusting of black pepper. Drinking well now and is ideally suited to roast lamb/sausage.Tasted: 16 December 2023Tasted by: Treve Ring & Anthony GismondiPrices:
