Abruzzo, ItalyThe Sorricchio family has owned the baronial fief of Valforte since the 13th Century and their Tenute Barone di Valforte vineyards cover 42 hectares in various communes in the Teramo hills, a prized place for montepulciano. This was vinified in stainless before resting 10 months in French oak. Dusky plum, black raspberry, forest bark, and worked leather are woven throughout this medium bodied red, with toothsome, sticky tannins to frame.
