Maçanita Branco 2022

Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalSiblings Antonio and Joana Maçinata work together on this Douro Valley project. This Branco blends viosinho, arinto, and gouveio, mostly from the Baixo Corgo (80%), with the remainder from the Cima Corgo and from vines between 580-700m on granite and schistous soils. This was whole bunch pressed, then fermented and aged in stainless for 6 months, on lees. A beauty brace of crushed stones is filled with wild lemon, green fig, crunchy pear, all dosed with ample stony salinity, and held taut with steep acidity. There's an alluring white tea texture to this medium bodied white, adding to its interest. Drinking very smartly now, and over the next couple of years easy.Tasted: 11 October 2023Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
