Gérard Bertrand An 1877 St Chinian 2019

St Chinian, Coteaux du Languedoc, Languedoc, Sud de France, FranceA blend of syrah and mourvèdre, this label pays homage to the first railroad line in Saint Chinian. It's a ripe, boisterous Saint Chinian, combining macerated dark berries with white pepper, dried lavender, and a gamey meatiness. You expect something big and rugged, but there's a real polish here, with suave tannins that speak to modern winemaking, in keeping with the theme for the label. Lovely complexity and concentration.
