Catena Zapata Malbec Argentino 2021

Mendoza, ArgentinaThe Malbec Argentino is drawn from a massale selection of old vines split between Nicasia Vineyard in Altamira and Angélica Vineyard in Lunlunta. It's hard not to be drawn in by the impressive packaging and label, but this is very much a serious wine in its own right. Twenty percent whole cluster adds a herbal freshness to the ripe wild brambles and cassis that permeate this wine, heightened by fragrant violets. A stony current runs through the palate, giving verve to the opulence of complete barrel fermentation. It's surprisingly approachable now, but the best is to come.Tasted: 13 October 2023Tasted by: Geoffrey Moss MWPrices:
