Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard River Vino de Parcela Malbec 2020

Gualtallary, Tupungato, Valle de Uco, Tunuyán, Central Region, Mendoza, ArgentinaCatena bottles three vino de parcela malbecs from Adrianna Vineyard, located at 1450m elevation in the renowned district of Gualtallary in the Uco Valley. The River bottling comes from an analogous parcel to the White Stones chardonnay, with river rocks on an ancient riverbed that are flecked with calcium carbonate. The whole cluster use (50%) is quite evident at first, with a spicy stemminess that yields with time in the glass to reveal luscious, polished blackberry that's lifted by candied violets. The palate is both more lush than the Fortuna Terrae but also more firmly structured, with a stony undercurrent that beautifully balances the fruit. It's clearly a wine that needs at least another 3-5 years in bottle, but it's going to be a stunner.Tasted: 13 October 2023Tasted by: Geoffrey Moss MWPrices:
