Unsworth Vineyards Pinot Noir Saison Vineyards 2021

Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, CanadaSadly, there isn’t much of the wine. Still, high quality and low production are good for the grower, and the winery and Saison Vineyard, a property that is a beacon for Island pinot noir, are good for British Columbia. Winemaker Dan Wright has an affinity for letting this wine's high acid, floral aspects shine through drawing on its earthy, dark cherry and savoury notes that help build complexity and length without alcohol and wood marring the purity. Like last year, this is another long, complex, delicate, and layered pinot that deserves the attention of pinotphiles. The Saison soil type is Shawnigan, a mix of marine silt and loam. The clones are 115 (18%), 667 (26%), 777 (30%) and 828 (26%). The wine spends 12 months in 20 percent new oak barriques. Alcohol is a modest 12.4 percent. Only 96 cases are made.Tasted: 27 July 2023Tasted by: Prices:
