Unsworth Vineyards Pinot Noir Saison Vineyards 2020

Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, CanadaThere isn't much of this wine, but the label deserves to exist to highlight Saison Vineyard, a property that has become a beacon for island pinot noir and a favourite of winemaker Dan Wright. A deeper, darker, more intense version of the regular label, it still remains within itself, offering floral, complex aromas and equally enticing flavours led by savoury, slightly sour cherry and fresh-turned earthy notes. Expect a long, complex, delicate and layered red. The Saison soil type is Shawnigan, a mix of marine silt and loam. The clones are 115 (18%), 667 (26%), 777 (30%) and 828 (26%). The wine spends 12 months in 20 percent new oak barriques. Alcohol is a modest 12.4 percent. Less than 100 cases are made.Tasted: 08 July 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
