Rocca delle Macie Tenuta Sant'Alfonso Chianti Classico 2019
Tuscany, ItalyRocca delle Macìe was founded in 1973 by legendary film producer Italo Zingarelli. Still, it's having a moment in its 60th year under the watchful eye of Italo's son Sergio whom, when he wasn't busy organizing the Chianti Classico Consortium, was overhauling the family wines in a big way. Today this weighty, full flavoured red of broad, soft textures is a statement for inexpensive Chianti Classico. Plenty of red plums and black cherries come together with savoury leather. Tenuta Sant'Alfonso is a 40 ha single vineyard that provides all you want at this price point. The match is spaghetti Bolognese.Tasted: 30 June 2023Tasted by: Prices:

Rocca delle Macie Tenuta Sant'Alfonso Chianti Classico 2019
Tuscany, ItalyRocca delle Macìe was founded in 1973 by legendary film producer Italo Zingarelli. His impressive film career allowed him to fulfill his dream of producing wine. His son, Sergio, oversees the operations today. This CC comes from Tenuta Sant'Alfonso, a 40-ha single vineyard site. This is rooted in clay soils at 300m, giving a weighted expansiveness to the palate. The wine rested in 35hl French barrels. Slightly brown in the glass, this is ripe and sultry with baked plums, worked leather and raspberry jam, pinned with firm, sticky tannins through a baking spiced finish—a wider, riper style for drinking now.Tasted: 14 July 2023Tasted by: Prices:
