Garzón, Maldonado, San José, UruguayBodega Garzón is only 17 kilometres inland from the Atlantic Ocean, as the crow flies, close to Uruguay's summer playgrounds at Punta del Este, La Barra, and Jose Ignacio. Designed from the ground up with over 1000 small vineyard blocks covering its hillside slopes, the vineyards' varying microclimates, different humidity levels, and intense canopy management have spawned a wide range of unique labels, including this renowned tannat. Expect an opaque purple colour and fabulous texture, like most Garzón wines. Indeed, a surprising amount of charm and elegance surrounds this plummy tobacco red with juicy, soft, youthful tannins. Lamb, wild boar, or a simple T-bone steak all work well here.
