Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe smartly lilac waxed Okanagan Falls Syrah is one of a quad of single vineyard syrahs released by Rust in the 2020 vintage. Each of the four is from clone 877, and aged in the same way, so you can compare site and soil. The is off Lost Horn Vineyard's clay loam soils at 395m, and ungrafted vines planted in 2016. This was 25% whole cluster fermented, and aged in a mix of French and Hungarian oak for 18 months (33% new). Spiced cherry, plum, and sarsaparilla is housed with grippy cedar-hewn tannins, leading this medium+ red to a roasted coffee finish.
