Losada Godello 2021

Bierzo, Castilla-Leon, SpainLook for a lightish yellow colour and an enticing mix of pear and licorice. There is a fine amount of richness, with a touch of oil, without being heavy on the palate. Crisp acidity and slatey mineral notes carry you through the finish. Not your Monday night white but rather a wine for contemplation and food. It is aged for five months on fine lees, with 70% in stainless steel and 30% in used 500 litre French oak barrels. The Godello grape grows in northwestern Spain’s Galicia region, and the Gouveio found in northern Portugal is thought to be the same grape variety. Its origins are in the town of Godello, which was first planted in the 19th century by a local landowner. In the early 1920s, the vineyards were transported by a Galician trader who took several samples up to Galicia.Tasted: 02 May 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
