Beaumes de Venise, Côtes du Rhône Villages, Southern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceIt's a shame that folks don't really drink much sweet wines, because wines like Muscat de Beaumes de Venise are proper classics. This VDN (Vins Doux Naturel) is when the fermentation of Muscat à petits grains is muted via the addition of spirit, leaving the RS around 100 g/L. Pouring a glowing golden hue, this coats the medium palate with fragrant honeysuckle, ripe apricot, baked white peach, with a bright tangerine acidity to carry through a spiced finish.
