Spearhead Pinot Noir Saddle Block 2021

East Kelowna Slopes, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaWinemaker Grant Stanley is on a journey with BC pinot noir and has enjoyed much success from Quails’ Gate to 50th Parallel, and lately, at Spearhead. Saddle Block is always a big wine; this year, it is also ripe. Sweet baking spices mixed with ripe blueberries and cola combine with an earthy, savoury forest floor undercurrent. This is it if you like your pinot on the rich side. It has the weight and the sweetness to take on a duck confit dish. Saddle Block Vineyard takes its name from the saddle shaped site, home to the 13 year old vines growing at 1550’ above sea level in South East Kelowna. The site is planted with a mix of clones: 33% Dijon 777, 28% Dijon 667, 17% Dijon 115, 11% Dijon 828, and 11% of California Mt. Eden clone. Saddle Block Pinot Noir resides within the new East Kelowna Slopes sub-GI.Tasted: 21 April 2023Tasted by: Prices:
