Emandare Vineyard FTV Point Noir 2021

Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, CanadaThe FTV in the name refers to fruit From The Valley, meaning this is not solely estate fruit, but sourced from their Cowichan neighbours. For the 2021 FTV PN, this was split 60% Mildenstein vineyard (nee Godfrey Brownell) and 40% Deol vineyard. Overall it was 40% whole cluster, with the remaining destemmed, all fermented into neutral French barrels where it was left for 1 year prior to bottling unfined and unfiltered. This lighter 11.5% red is lifted and perfumed with cherry blossoms, wild raspberry, and summer strawberries along a slight palate. Tannins are near negligible, with just a slight stickiness, while acidity is red currant tart and marine fresh, trailing off the finish with a lingering salinity. A youthful, bright and light pinot that speaks of the islands.Tasted: 11 March 2023Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
