Fort Berens Pinot Noir Reserve 2021
Lillooet, British Columbia, Canada2021 is a mix of two clones, 115 and 667, from specially selected rows cropped at low levels. The winemaking is simple: the fruit is crushed, destemmed and cold soaked for two days and after a brief post-maceration of three days, the wine is pressed off and aged in 25 percent new, 75 percent neutral French oak barrels for nine months. The style is juicy and fresh, with plenty of red fruit and earthy green forest. This could use some time in the bottle, but it has the balance to be drunk now. A mushroom risotto or salmon burger would be fun matches. A more elegant Old World style, and one worth pursuing.Tasted: 01 February 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $41.99 | 750ml | winery online/direct, select private retailers, grocery |
