Clos du Soleil Capella 2021

British Columbia, CanadaI love consistency in wine production as in, no matter the conditions, save for natural disasters, the best wineries turn out quality wine every year. Enter Capella, the flagship Clos du Soleil white. In 2021, the 73/27 sauvignon blanc / sémillon blend was a nod to some classic Bordeaux white wines. The fruit comes from a combination of Keremeos and Oliver vineyards, hence the British Columbia designation. Winemaker Michael Clark is meticulous and keeps each block picked and fermented separately. Everything is aged nine months with some lees stirring before final blending. The palate is alive with grapefruit, lemon, gooseberry, and the secret sauce: desert sagebrush. Drink now for the theatrical version, or hold through 2024 for a slightly less edgy version. I prefer it now with oysters, clams, or mussels on the coast.Tasted: 28 January 2023Tasted by: Prices:
