Roche Chardonnay 2019

Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFrom a 1 acre parcel of Falcon's View Vineyard, north of Oliver, this chardonnay is planted in alluvial gravels. After whole bunch pressing, this was fermented in 2nd and 3rd fill 225L French barrels (15% new), with full MLF, and 10 months on lees before bottling. A lick of reduction charms in this savoury-edged chardy, still packed full of pure Okanagan orchard apple and pear, and scented with scrubby dessert herbs. The wood impact is evident on the expansive palate, but there is zero overt woodiness in this wine. The finish lingers with a subtle stony salinity. Very smart, drinking well now and with time ahead. 192 cases.Tasted: 04 December 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
