G. D. Vajra Langhe Rosso 2020
Langhe, Cuneo, Piedmont, ItalyLanghe Rosso remains one of my favourite little gems, almost always overdelivering quality wine for price. Essentially these are wines for drinking up and in the Langhe, now. Varja's Langhe Rosso is a blend of younger vine nebbiolo, barbera, dolcetto, fresia, albarossa, and pinot noir, meant to give an overview of Piemonte's Langhe region. This is sourced from various vineyards, each variety vinified separately, fermented in stainless and then into French barrels from new to three years in age, for two years. Fragrant cherry, wild plum, crushed roses fill a cushy palate, threaded with mineral salts, and framed with long, finely firm tannins, drawing this out to a lingering saline finish. Such a charmer, this lighter red. Enjoy now.Tasted: 27 December 2022Tasted by: Prices:BC | $30.00 | 750ml | private wine shops |
