Paul Mas Viognier 2020
Vin de Pays d'Oc, Languedoc, Sud de France, FranceIf you have travelled across the south of France, the nose of this wine will instantly transport you back in time. If you have yet to get there, the fragrant, floral peach blossoms and fresh fruit flecked with citrus, ginger, and pineapple will make you want to book your flight today. What I like most about this wine is its quiet nature, free of oily cloying characteristics that can make viognier tiresome, especially at this price point. This wine is a go-to white for various west coast seafood dishes. It's even better suited to chicken or pork. Summer, winter, fall, and spring it can handle any season. The recipe at Mas is mixing viognier fruit from cool and warm sites using young and old vines, and relatively low yields at 52hl/ha.
