Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaThis pinot noir from Wismer Parke Vineyard on the Twenty Mile Bench is slightly shy on the nose, with hints of savoury black olives and earthy black tea. Bright raspberry, cranberry, and dark cherry jumps on the palate along with fresh herbs and gamey wildness forming richness and deliciousness. The bright acidity and suave tannins show decent integration.Tasted: 09 March 2023Tasted by: Prices:

Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaThis comes from Wismer-Parke Vineyard on the Vineland Bench, a vineyard which Bachelder had to "learn to love." It yields pinots with a wild, bloody character, and that's certainly felt again with the 2020 vintage. It's distinctively gamey with lifted dark cherry fruit – think rare duck breast generously sauced with cherry compote – alongside dried lavender, thyme, and fine spices. It continually pulls you back in, so mouthwatering, sapid, and savoury, with a firm, fine-grained structure that will pay dividends over the next 5-7 years with careful cellaring.Tasted: 29 November 2022Tasted by: Prices:
