St David's Bench, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaWith a very pale hue, this is the leanest of Bachelder’s 2020 pinots. Primarily from vines planted in 1993 on the tail-end of the St. David’s Bench, this pinot shows an expressive nose of floral perfume and clove spiciness over top of a macerated red fruit base. The oak and tartness are quite prominent at this stage and will benefit from a bit more time cellaring for further integration.Tasted: 09 March 2023Tasted by: Prices:

St David's Bench, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaFrom Lowrey Vineyard, but a different parcel than the Old Eastern Block. The vines here date to 1988 and 1993, on a gentle slope at the base of the Niagara Escarpment. It shows lifted, medicinal cherry and cranberry, accented by dried shrubby herbs, lavender, and thyme blossoms. Although impressively concentrated, with considerable dry extract, this is surprisingly lean and tart, lacking the generosity that's evident across the balance of the 2020 line-up.Tasted: 29 November 2022Tasted by: Prices:
