Gérard Bertrand Clos du Temple Rosé 2020
Cabrières, Languedoc, Sud de France, FranceClos du Temple is located on the historical terroir of Cabrières, in the heart of Languedoc, 240 metres above the Mediterranean, with a southern/south-western exposure. Its old vines reside at the birthplace of rosé, on an eight-hectare / seven-parcel site of schist and limestone. The blend is grenache, cinsault, syrah, mourvèdre, and viognier grown using biodynamics, including horses and mules, to bridge the connection of “mineral, plant, animal and human worlds.” The best free-run juice is selected and fermented at low temperatures without added sulphur and matured in new barrels for six months on fine lees with bâtonnage. The final wine is blended on a fruit day and is a study of refinement and grace. Look for intense apricot/peach flavours that stream through a sleek, creamy palate flecked with tangerine and grapefruit pith. As you might expect and demand for the price, this complex rosé will age.Tasted: 01 October 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $262.95 | 750ml | restaurants only |
