The style is soft and easy to drink with plummy blackberry and savoury south Okanagan desert scrub to keep it interesting. Lamb chops would be a fun match, or a pan of grilled root vegetables. The fruit comes from the south Okanagan from Maverick Vineyard, near the Osoyoos airstrip. It’s a 65/25/10 blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon, and cabernet franc from the challenging 2019 vintage that eventually under lower yields, surprised with its quality. A five-day cold soak containing 10 percent whole bunches builds fruit and flavour intensity without alcohol.
