Blue Mountain Brut Rosé R.D. Méthode Traditionelle 2018
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaAnother tasty release of Blue Mountain Brut Rosé R.D. (recently disgorged) that is entirely estate grown within the Okanagan Falls GI and hand-harvested at relatively low yields. The makeup is a 70/30 mix of pinot noir and chardonnay that is fermented separately and blended post-fermentation. The secondary fermentation is done in a bottle and aged on its lees for 30 months before it was disgorged in August 2021 and finished with “a higher dosage than the Brut Gold Label,” at 10 grams per litre, leaving it on the edge of being perceptibly dry. It then spends another year at the winery before release. In the glass, a pale pink colour precedes a gently autolytic nose of croissants and wild strawberries. The texture is creamy smooth and comes off as accessible and charming but as the bottle depletes you notice the complexity and depth of the wine grow in a manner that suggests you could take this to the dinner table and it would perform flawlessly.Tasted: 30 October 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $39.90 | 750ml | winery online/direct |
