Spearhead Pinot Noir Golden Retreat Vineyard 2020
Summerland Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaSummerland is home to the Golden Retreat Vineyard and pinot noir clones 667, Pommard, 115, and 777, all of which are hand harvested. Winemaker Grant Stanley destems the berries and cold soaks them for approximately 5-7 days before a spontaneous fermentation that ends after a total of 16 to 21 days of skin contact. The finished wine spends 13 months in French oak barrels, of which 25 percent is new. This New World pinot comes darker in colour and a touch more assertive upfront. The attack is savoury, spicy plum, black raspberry, and dark chocolate. A perfect fall red you can pair with mushrooms or pork with ease.
