Blue Grouse Quill Pinot Noir 2020
British Columbia, CanadaAs in previous years, the Quill Pinot Noir is split between Vancouver Island and Okanagan fruit. This year the mix includes 34% from the Okanagan, and the remainder from the island (including 12% gamay for the first time). Each lot was left on skins for 4 days and native fermented separately. After pressing, the wine was moved into French oak barrels for MLF, followed by 1 year in French and American oak. Soft and plush in the mouth, with crushed plum, cherry jam, and a healthy shake of brown spices. Tannins are equally soft, hugging this medium bodied red to the briefer finish. The wine is already tasting a bit tired, so best to crack now with a slight chill and a mushroom pasta dish.Tasted: 05 September 2022Tasted by: Prices:BC | $25.00 | 750ml | winery direct, private wine shops |
