Stag's Hollow Pinot Noir Stag's Hollow Vineyard 2020

Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaA little reluctant on the aroma, with some flat cherry, strawberry, and a developing note of berry and bramble. This wine typically has good fruit concentration but the tannins, though not harsh, generally muffle the fruit for the first few years. Be it vintage, increasing vine age, or a newer winemaker though, this one unpacked in the glass after a few minutes to show savoury, dark red fruit intensity that included marionberry and baked cherries. The length, focus, and clarity of the finish really stretched out and was slow to diminish. The linear wavelength of flavour on the ending, though not flashy, was splendid and is hard to achieve. Very well done and promises much for the future. Overall, spare in complexity and nuance, yet exceptional. Three clones of Pinot Noir grow in the winery’s Stag’s Hollow Vineyard, the winery’s original vineyard. This wine is a co-ferment of clones 115 and 667. It was aged 12 months in French oak barrels (16% new). 195 cases produced.Tasted: 10 October 2023Tasted by: Prices:
