Culmina Family Estate Dilemma 2018
Golden Mile Bench, Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaIt would appear there are no significant changes from this chardonnay, sourced high up on Golden Mile Bench, clipped from the Margaret's Bench Vineyard. It is a mix of Dijon clones 95 and 76 that goes through partial malolactic fermentation before ageing eight months in a blend of French oak (30% new, 40 % one-year-old barrels, and the remainder in stainless steel). The style is creamy but fresher than the previous edition, with a mix of orange, honey, and lemon curd filling the palate. The finish offers a touch of hazelnuts and sweet pear. Quietly New World and well worth investigating if you like the more decadent style of chardonnay. Lobster or halibut make suitable matches, as does a creamy mushroom risotto, or sumac seasoned roasted cauliflower tossed with pinenuts, currants, and pecorino.Tasted: 23 July 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $23.00 | 750ml | winery online/direct, select private retailers |
