Domaine Benjamin Passot Chénas Au Bois Retour 2020
Beaujolais, Burgundy, FranceThis tiny low-intervention negotiant sources grapes in Chenas, Juliénas, and Chiroubles, employing native ferment, semi-carbonic maceration, and 10 months in older wood. Benjamin cut his teeth in Vosne-Romanée, and has now turned his passion towards Cru Beaujolais. This Chénas cuvée uses 80 year old vines in sandy soils, and sees some new oak. Fleshy cherry, wild raspberry, white peppery spice flood a juicy palate, hemmed with long, lightly sticky tannins and buoyed by bright, mineral-laden acidity.
