Luján de Cuyo, Northern Region, Mendoza, ArgentinaFrom high up in Luján de Cuyo, this malbec grows near 1000 metres. The rich, full bodied malbec shows some of Paul Hobbs's influence. Blackberries and cherries with a touch of tobacco coat the palate with just enough acidity to keep it fresh for the next sip. It was 18 months in French oak barriques that were one quarter new. A classic drink now red you can serve with lamb or a T-bone steak for those who love the hedonistic style, or one you can hold for another four to six years and serve fully mature.Tasted: 22 March 2022Tasted by: Prices:
Luján de Cuyo, Northern Region, Mendoza, ArgentinaFrom gravelled 990-1060m vineyards in Luján de Cuyo, this malbec was aged for 18 months in French oak (24% new) before heading to bottle without fining or filtration. Full bodied and potent, with dense cassis, compact blackberry, pipe tobacco, pitchy thorns, and threads of iron soils up against lifted mountain acidity. Tannins are well absorbed into the fruit, leaving a gritty framework around the sides, through the saline, medicinal black cherry finish. Quite an aspirational wine, and one to take with lamb now, or better yet, a while in the cellar.Tasted: 05 May 2022Tasted by: Prices:
