Mauro Molino Barbera d'Asti Le Radici 2020

Piedmont, ItalyMauro Molino was born in Piemonte, grew up amongst the storied hills and iconic vines, and graduated from Alba Winemaking School in 1973. After a few years of making wine in Emilia Romagna, he returned to start his own winery in the Langhe following the passing of his father. This Barbera comes from the calcareous clays of Le Radici vineyard, in Costigliole d’Asti, extending to the foot of the Castle of Burio. This was macerated on skins over 10 days, and fermented in steel tanks before ageing in large French oak barrels. This is a ripe, brooding and fuller barbera, with tar, baked blackberries, plum pie, and smoked stone across a full, 15.5% palate. Tannins are grippy / sticky, taking this to a baking spiced / fruitcake finish.Tasted: 08 March 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
