Château Pesquié Quintessence Rouge 2019

Sud de France, FranceIt’s year 30 for Quintessence Rouge, a label that highlights the notion of exception and concentration that goes into this cuvée. Expect a powerful and complex wine with an innate sense of balance, a welcomed freshness, and a liveliness that makes this a delight to drink. Look for a spread of black fruits dusted in savoury garrigue and meaty black olive. It is the perfect mix of Ventoux freshness and wild scrubland, black cherry, with silky tannins. Think meats in sauce, game, tuna steak, duck confit, and creamy cheeses. Again, it is a serious Ventoux at a very fair price. It is an 80/20 blend of syrah/grenache from highly selected plots of 50+ year old, south facing vines that sit 250-350 meters above sea level over a mix of clay and limestone. Post-fermentation, the blend is aged twelve to fifteen months in barrels (40% in new oak).Tasted: 16 March 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
