Pax Sonoma-Hillsides Syrah 2019

Sonoma County, California, United StatesThis Sonoma-Hillsides Syrah is a selection off their favourite hillside vineyards in the County: Castelli-Knight Ranch, Griffins Lair, Sonoma Coast, and Nellessen Vineyard. Entirely whole cluster, this was native fermented and aged for 10 months in square concrete tanks and neutral French puncheons, before bottling without fining or filtration. The altitude and careful handling have created a tight, energetic syrah, with ample intensity matched to equal lightness of being. Perfumed black plums, black raspberries, black cherries is strung across a base of broken stones, dusted with white pepper, and lit with herbaceous twiney whole bunch acidity. Tannins are softly textured and well-integrated, gently hugging this bright syrah through the lingering stone dusted finish. Fantastic example of pursing balance in California, with a healthy nod to Northern Rhone, drinking well now and with time ahead. Smartly finished with an eco-cork too.Tasted: 27 February 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
