Bret Brothers Viré-Clessé Sous Les Plantes 2020

Viré-Clessé, Mâconnais, Burgundy, FranceSince arriving on the Burgundy scene in 2000, the wines of the brothers Jean-Philippe and Jean-Guillaume Bret have garnered much acclaim. This organic Mâconnais chardonnay comes from the Sous Les Plantes parcel located south of Viré, at 200m, and from 75 year old vines rooted in silt and clay. It was native fermented before 11 months in 600L demi-muids and barrels. There's a lovely completeness to this wine, with a lees-anchored heft deftly balanced by shining acidity, green apple, lemon peel, crunchy pear, broken stone, all wrapped with a silken bow. This youthful wine is drinking very smartly now, and will continue to impress with time in cellar. 2213 bottles produced.Tasted: 17 February 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
