Tocco Enisio Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva 2014

Abruzzo, ItalyTocco was founded in 1981 by Enisio Tocco, in the hills of Pescara, in Alanno, on the Adriatic coast. His sons Lorenzo and Danilo joined him in 2014 after studying and working abroad. Their 34 hectares (half dedicated to vines) is certified organic. Named for their founder, this Riserva comes from 1978 planted vines, trained pergola. It was native fermented in stainless over 21 days before a year's rest in barriques, followed by another year in bottle prior to release. Wild cassis, dusky black plums, thorns, dark chocolate, leather work through the muscular palate, with dusty / sticky tannins pinning in the sides, and taking this to a bitter cherry chocolate finish. Certainly one to crack with big fall / winter stews or roasted game.Tasted: 17 December 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
