British Columbia, CanadaI've had the opportunity to taste this twice now, and both bottles were knockouts. Year in and year out, Capella is about restraint. This vintage leans towards the citrus end of the spectrum, showing bright lemon and grapefruit alongside fresh herbs, pillowy lees, and subtle wood. Medium-bodied, this is taut and precise, with real finesse, leading to a long, saline finish. It's a true expression of the Similkameen, that's marked by outstanding purity of fruit. Clos du Soleil Capella 2020

British Columbia, CanadaCapella is the Clos du Soleil flagship white, although it strays out of the Similkameen to add some fruit from Oliver in 2020. The blend is a 77/33 sauvignon blanc / sémillon. The nose opens with an intense lemon and herbaceous Kiwi style nose that spills onto the vibrantly fresh, skinny palate full of green apple and pear dusted in juicy grapefruit pith. An excellent underlying leesy, mineral Similkameen character closes out this perfect white wine. Clos du Soleil Capella 2020

British Columbia, CanadaCapella is the flagship white of Clos du Soleil, with fruit from Keremeos and Oliver, and a mix of 77% sauvignon blanc, and 23% sémillon in 2020. Each vineyard block was harvested separately, whole cluster pressed, and partially native fermented in French puncheons (1/4 saw MLF). After 9 months' barrel age, with bâtonnage, the best barrels were blended into Capella. Lemon verbena, green hedge, Anjou pear, green apple sail through the medium bodied palate, brightened with lime and grapefruit pithiness, but grounded on a cushy bed of stony lees, finishing with a buzzy citrus hum. Again, quite a compelling, and unique wine for BC, drinking smartly now in youth, but will certainly reward with a few years in the cellar. 410 cases.Tasted: 07 December 2021Tasted by: Prices:
