Quails' Gate Old Vines Foch 2019

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaQuails' Gate's Old Vines Foch is a benchmark wine with a long track record, drawing from heritage plantings that date to 1978. The 2019 vintage seems to be a step in a new direction, at least to this palate. It's an exciting new look for this wine. There's still the bold oak, after aging in American oak for 16 months, but what stands out is the fruit. It's fresh, juicy. and at the forefront, led by a combination of dark cherry and blackberry that's joined by coconut and vanillin. It’s soft, suave, and seamless, more medium-bodied than full, and all about the balance and drinkability. Nicely done.Tasted: 29 October 2021Tasted by: Prices:
